CELL PHONE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE POLICY

(Ed Code 48901.5: Electronic Device) Student learning and engagement are a top priority at Renaissance High School (RHS).  Cell phone and electronic device use is an unnecessary distraction to our students.  

Parents/Guardians are advised that the best way to get in touch with your student during the school day is by calling the school office.

Students using electronic devices inappropriately will receive a verbal warning to put their electronic devices away. Once the warning has been given, teachers will subsequently assign progressive consequences.

  • Teachers will determine when it is appropriate for students to use electronic devices in a classroom. Teachers will communicate with students when devices are allowed. 
  • Students are permitted to be in possession of a cell phone or an electronic device.
  • Cell phones and electronic devices can ONLY be used before school, during passing periods, breaks, lunch, and after school.
  • Cell phones and electronic devices must be kept out of sight and silent during classes.
  • Ringing, vibrating, checking messages, text messaging, talking, checking the time, looking at pictures, playing games, playing music, etc. are not permitted during instruction time.

Teacher has reminded students of allowable cell phone use in their class. Teachers may confiscate the device or call Campus Security/Community Liaison to confiscate the device for the remainder of the class period.

Teachers may request Campus Security /Community Liaison to confiscate the device. The device will be returned at the end of the day.

Parent/Guardian contact will be made by the teacher.
Teacher will contact Campus Security/Community Liaison to escort the student and device to the office where it will be held for the remainder of the school day.

Parent/Guardian will be notified to arrange device retrieval on that day. 
Students will be placed on a two week cellphone contract. Students must turn in their phones to the office daily for two weeks. A violation within the two weeks will reset the contract. (students start at step 3 when exiting the two weeks)
Report incident in Synergy. Parent/Guardian will be notified by the Principal.  Students/parents will meet and sign contracts. 

*This policy is a year-long system.

**These rules and consequences will be followed and enforced by all students and staff members.

PÓLIZA DE TELÉFONO CELULAR Y DISPOSITIVO ELECTRÓNICO

(Código de Educación 48901.5: Dispositivo electrónico) El aprendizaje y la participación de los estudiantes es una prioridad principal en Renaissance High School (RHS). El uso de teléfonos celulares y dispositivos electrónicos se ha convertido en una distracción innecesaria para nuestros estudiantes.

Se advierte a los padres / tutores que la mejor manera de comunicarse con su estudiante durante el día escolar es llamando a la oficina de la escuela.

Los estudiantes que usen dispositivos electrónicos en el momento equivocado recibirán una advertencia verbal para que guarden sus dispositivos electrónicos. Una vez que se ha dado la advertencia, los maestros asignan consecuencias crecientes del segundo incidente.

  • Los maestros determinarán cuándo es apropiado que los estudiantes usen dispositivos electrónicos en un salón de clases. Los maestros se comunicarán con los estudiantes cuando se permitan los dispositivos.
  • Se les permite a los estudiantes teléfono celular o dispositivos electrónicos.
  • Los teléfonos celulares y dispositivos electrónicos SOLO se pueden usar antes de la escuela, durante los períodos de transición, los descansos, el almuerzo y después de la escuela. A menos que un miembro del personal haga una excepción específica a la regla.
  • Los teléfonos celulares y dispositivos electrónicos deben mantenerse fuera de la vista y  sonido durante las clases.
  • Sonar, vibrar, revisar mensajes, enviar mensajes de texto, hablar, verificar el tiempo, mirar fotos, jugar juegos, reproducir música, etc. no se permiten.

Recordatorio del maestro(a) al estudiante del uso permitido de teléfonos celulares en clase. El maestro puede confiscar el 
dispositivo o llamar a Seguridad o Enlace Comunitario para confiscar el dispositivo por el resto de  la clase.
Informe de incidente menor completado.
Maestro(a) puede solicitar a Seguridad o Enlace Comunitario que confisque el dispositivo. El dispositivo será devuelto al final del día.
Informe de incidente menor completado. El maestro se comunicará con los padres/tutores.
Maestro se comunicará con Seguridad o Enlace Comunitario para acompañar al estudiante y el dispositivo a la oficina donde se guardará el dispositivo por el resto del día escolar.
Informe de incidente menor completado.  Se notificará al padre/tutor para coordinar la recuperación del dispositivo ese día.
El estudiant recibirá un contrato de telefonía celular de dos semanas. El estudiante deben entregar su dispositivo a la oficina diariamente durante dos semanas. Una infracción dentro de las dos semanas restablecerá el 
contrato. (Los estudiantes comienzan en el paso 3 al salir de las dos semanas). El director notificará a los padres/tutores. Los estudiantes/padres se reunirán y firmarán contratos.

*Esta política es un sistema de un año.

**Estas reglas y consecuencias serán seguidas y aplicadas por todos los estudiantes y miembros del personal.
